Londoners are rightly proud of their city which attracts so many people from around the world every year and is known throughout as a centre for culture, history and fashion. People flock to the city every year from within the UK and abroad for diverse reasons such as business, sightseeing, home buying and Language courses in London. Next year will also see the Olympics held in the city and as a result there is a spending programme to upgrade infrastructure and accommodation, making it doubly attractive to people wanting to visit the city.
Not surprisingly, this affects the prices in many aspects and London is not one of the cheapest places to visit, it has to be said. Homeowners face stiff prices throughout the city and it can be nigh on impossible to get your foot on the housing ladder. Even if you have the money to purchase, homes are often snapped up quickly, often above the asking price.
Visitors often complain that hotel prices, too, are amongst the highest in the world and it can cost several hundred pounds a night to stay in a decent hotel, let alone a luxury one.
Those hotels that are in the lower end of the price scale are often in unfashionable or down at heel areas and leave something to be desired in terms of quality and welcome.
