Many people assume that just because it is a big city, then London is a dangerous place, especially at night, but nothing could be further from the truth.
Many parts of London are very safe to walk in, with excellent policing and security guards London although as with any city, you have to know which are the safe areas and which have a reputation for trouble.
Most cities and towns of the world have areas which are less salubrious than others and London is no different in that respect, but it does not make the city less safe as a whole. If you are on holiday there, try and stay in one of the central areas which you know is a good area, with easy access to the underground transport as well as taxis and buses.
If you are staying in a hotel, ask your concierge for advice on which places are best avoided, especially at night. Many areas are perfectly safe in the day but that does not mean that you would necessarily go there in the dark.
Take the same precautions as you would in any city such as not flashing large wads of cash around or wearing obviously expensive jewellery and you will be much safer as a result. It is important that you feel safe on your holiday to London so that you can enjoy yourself.
